Girls Should be Treated With the Same Respect as Boys are!

Hi! Yesterday, at my summer camp, rude comments were made about girls. One boy (who will remain unnamed) said "You guys are probably going to say that you can make all the decisions because you are girls and girls are so bossy." and said "You know what the most annoying thing on the planet is? It is girls!"
I don't think that we should be hurt with these comments. We should be proud that we are girls! We are strong, beautiful, kind, and wise and I don't think that we should even waste our time thinking about a rude comment that contradicts that! I don't care about what somebody else thinks about me or my gender. I care about what I think about my self.
People say girls are bossy and people say girls are mean! But, is all that  really true? What is so different about girls and boys anyway? Sure, they might look different and maybe act different ways, but the fact is that we are all humans, we all live on earth, and when you really think about it girls and boys are not that different at all. If girls and boys are not that different after all, then why are they treated differently? Why are girls who take charge called bossy while boys who take charge are called leaders. Why are girls thought of as weak? Why is a boy always referred to as the leader of the family? Why do stories always portray boys saving girls instead of the other way around?
I'm sick of girls being treated differently and I will not stand for it!

  1. Hey, Jollygirl! Thanks for finding and following my blog. I really like the message you are sending with your blog so I followed you back! I agree with what you are saying with this post. Some double standards are healthy, but sometimes they are completely unnecessary, like with what you mentioned!

  3. Oh my goodness, Jollygirl! I am so sorry! When I followed your blog, I clicked "private", and then I forgot to change it! I haven't been on my blog for a few days, and I just saw your comment! I am so so sorry! I'll change it now! You must have felt horrible. I love your blog, and I want to follow it publicly, it's just that at first, I was concerned about people seeing my profile everywhere, until I realized that was too silly! Then, it slipped my mind to change it. Now I will, and can I just say again how sorry I am? By the way, this post was so awesome and SO true. I believe in equality as well, and this reminded me of Hermione, because she is just like that!

    1. It's okay, Oakstar! I never felt bad! You didn't do anything wrong! It is not silly that you were concerned that people would see your profile everywhere! I was too! If your not comfortable with your profile being on my blog you can change the follow settings to private!

    2. I'm so glad! I'm a very cautious person on the internet with everything at first, so I thought that I would keep them all to private. Then I realized that my profile only showed basic things about me, and that it was all good advertising for the blogs I love (and my own!), and a great way to help people reach their goals. I am much more comfortable now, and I really hope you get ten followers by the end of the summer, because even though we've never ACTUALLY talked, I feel like I know you and that you're one of the sweetest friends I've made.

    3. I very cautious on the internet too! I also thought of keeping my follow settings on private but then I realized that they wouldn't show up on other people's blogs when I did that.
Thanks so much! I think that you are really friendly too! I can't wait to see you at the summit!
P.S. Your blog is awesome and I hope you get tons of readers who love your blog because you deserve it!

  4. This is so true! Okay, the May of this year our social studies teacher gave our team/pod a project, but everyone treated it as a competition because the top six groups would go to the local university and compete against all of the other schools (for the record, most people at my school had a competitive streak). This one guy in my group wouldn't bother to do the work at all, and me and this other girl in my group had to do a part of his work for him. His excuse was that he was a guy absent for several days that he couldn't do it!

I think that there's lots of prejudice against girls, which really stinks, just because a lot of fields in society are male-dominated. But something that I really like about the world is that we are beautiful, and we stand up for what we believe in. Like woman suffragists (I think that's what they're called) in the early 1900s, for instance, who fought for our rights to let women vote. And there are so many successful women in history who did dominate and do amazing things in fields like science and literature! And in YA novels, there are so many examples of girls that are heroes, like Annabeth Chase, Hermione Granger, Clary Fairchild, Katniss Everdeen, Tris Prior... The list goes on and on. Even of they are fictional characters, they show that girls do have the power to change the world for the better.

    xoxo Morning

    1. Yeah, there are so any successful women in history! I think it is cool that we stand up for what we believe in too! A long time ago, women were thought of as badly and now that has changed but there still is prejudice against them. I think that that can also be changed too! I'm glad that you liked this post!

  6. Hello Jollygirl! Thank you so much for your really sweet comment on my blog. You blog is amazing too. I do agree. Girls are not treated with the same respect boys are. Most people favour boys over girls and it's good that we should stand up to that. There are so many influential women in history and the men can't compare to them. And thank you for your sweet comments about my design as well. I have a blog designing business if you're interested :)
